CLI Spanish School is proud to offer as one of its many programs a high school study abroad program. This program is designed for high school students, or those aged 13-19, desiring to spend time learning the Spanish language and Latin American culture, specifically as it pertains to Guatemala and Guatemalans. Guatemalan Spanish is one of the most easy to follow as it is clear, precise, and without many regional dialects. The people are friendly and outgoing, willing to help foreigners in their desire to learn the language and history, culture, and customs of Guatemala. The country itself is an ecological wonder and is appropriately known as the Land of Eternal Spring.
We have had many young students study with us or at local high schools, and in accordance with CLI’s policy we cater and accommodate the student from pre-arrival, throughout his or her stay at the local school and lodging, all the way until departure to his or her home country. Following is a pricelist along with description of programs and lodging available. Any questions regarding this program please contact us at info@spanishcontact.com For those wanting more of a language experience, or simply to see photos of the school and Guatemala, please visit our web site at www.spanishcontact.com
Tuition
The Guatemala high school system is not based on semesters but academic year. The academic year is January 9 – October 19, 2012.
It is possible to study in monthly blocks, or semesters. In this case the student can study January 9 – June 1, 2012 or June 3 – October 19. The former time block is recommended, but either intake is fine.
For those desiring a shorter stay but still the high school experience, monthly studies are also possible.

Lodging
There are many lodging options from which to choose. For those in the high school program, we recommend a regular room at the school. However, a deluxe room is also available, as is a third option, a room in a guest house. All lodging is in a private room.
The guest house option is a room in the home of a local Guatemalan family. This lodging option includes meals 6 days per week. All guest houses are within a 15 minute walk of the school and exact center of town. All are vetted and have been working with CLI for over 5 years.
For lodging at the school, no meals are included, but groceries are inexpensive in Guatemala, especially when compared to Western Europe or North America. Meals can be prepared by the student himself at the school. However, we do have a meal plan which include breakfast and lunch Monday-Friday. We generally recommend a room at the school, as they are a bit more comfortable especially for stays of longer than a month. The school is very secure, being in the small town of Antigua and furthermore right across from the police depot and the school has video controlled electronic access. We also have a beautiful garden and terrace, and all rooms include a private bath. Internet is also included for free in each and every room, as is 24 hour access to our own onsite Internet café. Room and laundry service is including at no extra charge as well.
The deluxe room is similar to the regular room at the school. However, it is slightly y larger, and comes with a TV and refrigerator and if requested, microwave. For these reasons, we generally recommend a room or deluxe room at the school. However, for those on a tight budget, the guest house is perfectly acceptable. Mixed stay e.g. half the time in guest house, and half the time in a room at the school, are acceptable. In this case, 50% of each cost is applied. On other words there is no surcharge for mixing accommodation.
